Job summary

MACOM in Morrisville, NC is seeking an Electronics Technician RF to support assembly and testing in a fast-paced electronics lab. You will use standard lab equipment, solder PCBs to baseplates, and mount SMT components including small 0201 packages and QFNs.

Responsibilities include wiring, testing, and helping manage material availability while collaborating with the design team to meet production priorities. ITAR considerations apply and candidates must be U.S. Persons.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in electrical or electronics field or equivalent; 3+ years experience preferred.
  • Ability to setup and use standard electronics lab test equipment.
  • Strong soldering experience and familiarity with PCB assembly processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble cable harnesses and attach connectors as needed.
  • Solder PCBs to baseplates and attach SMT components including 0201 and QFNs.
  • Work within a Jira queue to support design and production priorities.
  • Coordinate with design team on status and material availability.
  • Interpret circuit schematics and PCB layouts to verify function.
  • Maintain organization and documentation in a fast-paced electronics lab.

Electronics Technician RF
Job Description

Candidate must have general knowledge of and be able to usestandard electronics lab test equipment such as DMMs, power supplies, hot/coldplates, and soldering iron.

Strong soldering experience is a must, and much of the work will involve handsoldering PCBs to baseplates and then attaching SMT components as small as 0201and devices such as QFNs to populate the sample boards.

Assembling cable harnesses and attachingconnectors will occasionally be required. Inventory management skills such as deducting components from the system will be part of the role.

This role operates somewhat independently supporting a larger team and business objectives via a centrally operated Jira queueing system. Regular communication with design team to assessstatus and priority of jobs in the assembly queue, or to follow up aboutmaterial availability is a requirement.

Important to have solid technical understanding of standard components such as resistors,capacitors, diodes, transistors, and basic logic devices.

Must possess strong wiring and hand soldering skills, as well as the ability to interpret a functional electronics circuit (schematic and PCB) and explain its function.

Self-starting candidates will have strong oral/written communication and organization skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced commercial electronics lab.

Applicants with experience in general electronics troubleshooting are strongly encouraged to apply. Solid functional material knowledge of various solders, solder pastes, and fluxes will help get the candidate up to speed quickly. Note : this is a non-exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities. Job Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to solder PCBs to copper or aluminum baseplates.
  • Demonstrated ability to solder SMT components and QFNs is required
  • Able to manage numerous small jobs in parallel
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Previous Relevant Work Experience
  • Requiresan associate’s degree in an electrical or electronics field or equivalent3+ years work experience.
  • Mustbe able to perform test equipment setup, calibration, and preventativemaintenance per manufacturer’s documentation.
  • Strongcomputer skills are required with emphasis on MS Office.
Other Special Skills

Familiaritywith Agile and SAP a plus.
