Job summary

MACOM is seeking an Assembler 2 for day shift to join our production team. The role involves reading schematic drawings and blueprints to assemble electronic components, and supporting efficient machine operation under direct supervision.

The ideal candidate will have experience in hand soldering, basic inspection with a microscope, and familiarity with assembly drawings. A High School diploma and willingness to train are required.

Qualifications

  • Reads and interprets schematic drawings, blueprints, and diagrams to assemble electronic components.
  • 2 years related work experience preferred but will hire the right attitude and train.
  • Familiar with standard assembly concepts, practices, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, inspect, and test precision semiconductor assemblies and raw components as instructed.
  • Follow documented procedures and provide immediate feedback when there is uncertainty.
  • Meet daily production rate and communicate production output; address issues at risk.
  • Verify dimensions and clearances using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
  • Ensure calibrated equipment is used and notify Engineers if not.
  • Prepare work by studying assembly instructions, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.

Job Title: Assembler 2 - Day Shift
Position Overview

An Assembler reads and interprets schematic drawings, blueprints, and diagrams to assemble electronic components according to product specifications. Supports production and efficient machine operation under direct supervision. Familiar with standard assembly concepts, practices, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, inspect, and test precision semiconductor assemblies and raw components as instructed.
  • Follow documented procedures and provide immediate feedback when there is uncertainty.
  • Meeting daily production rate and communicating production output. Addresses issues immediately when production is at risk.
  • Verifies dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to blueprint specifications, using instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
  • Assures calibrated equipment is being used as required and notifies the appropriate Engineer if it is not.
  • Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Key Competencies & Skills Required
  • Experience in hand soldering, manually placing small parts or components onto an electrical assembly.
  • Wire bonding experience is a plus.
  • Familiar with following travelers and standard operating procedures and follows basics of assembly drawings under direct supervision.
  • Experience using microscopes to inspect products and ensure the highest standard of quality.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • High School degree.
  • 2 years related work experience preferred but will hire the right attitude and train.

The Salary Range for this position is $20 – $25 per hour. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
