PBF Energy is seeking a Process Engineer for our Martinez Refinery in California. The role involves optimizing unit performance to meet safety, environmental, and economic objectives, and providing technical support for day-to-day and non-routine activities within the operations department.

You will engage in process optimization, continuous improvement, and collaboration with the Process Engineering Group to drive efficiency and reliability across refinery units.

Qualifications

• STEM degree OR equivalent experience in a refinery.
• BS in Chemical Engineering is preferred.
• 3 years of refinery experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review, monitor, and respond to process operations to identify process safety concerns, meet production and quality targets, and optimize unit performance.
• Relieve constraints, improve reliability, and minimize operating expenses.

Process Engineer – PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE: PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We have an opportunity at our Martinez Refinery in California and are seeking a talented Process Engineer to join our team as a pivotal member who will play a key role at PBF Energy.

Process Engineers optimize unit performance to meet the refinery’s safety, environmental, and economic objectives. They provide technical support for the operating units, including day‑to‑day and non‑routine activities, process optimization, and continuous improvement. Process Engineers are assigned to and work closely with their operations department, while reporting directly to the Process Engineering Group.

Job Responsibilities

• Use technical knowledge to review, monitor, and respond to process operations in order to identify potential underlying process safety concerns, meet production and quality targets, and optimize unit performance and yields.
• Relieve constraints, improve reliability, and minimize operating expenses.
• Provide support for non‑routine events including turnarounds, maintenance, troubleshooting, and projects.
• Support the change management process through evaluation of operational and equipment modifications.
• Interface with internal departments and external resources to provide unit support and identify opportunities.

Position Specific Requirements

• Available in off hours and days to respond to refinery issues or emergencies, including on‑call emergency response functions.
• Mix of computer‑based office work and field inspection and testing in refinery plant units.
• Climb ladders.
• Walk up and down steps.
• Lift 50 pounds.
• Work in the following conditions: heights, outside in inclement weather.
• Occasionally an altered work schedule over an extended period may be required during maintenance outages and turnarounds.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Candidate must have active TWIC card or be able to obtain a TWIC card. Information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic.

Minimum Qualifications

• STEM degree OR equivalent experience in a refinery.

The salary range for this position is $92,846.05 – $164,756.20. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job‑related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation. In addition to salary, PBF offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
