Job summary

Georg Fischer LLC in Little Rock, Arkansas is seeking an Injection Molding Process Engineer to provide hands-on support for manufacturing operations, troubleshoot process issues, and develop standardized operating parameters.

You will drive process optimization and continuous improvement projects, support mold qualifications and start-ups, collaborate with Quality and Maintenance, and document processes and trial results to enable sustainable improvements.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on injection molding process engineering in manufacturing.
• Experience with injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment.
• Experience developing and qualifying molding processes and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provides hands-on technical support to injection molding production operations.
• Toubleshoots injection molding process issues and identifies opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and OEE.
• Develops, documents, and maintains standardized injection molding processes and operating parameters.
• Supports process optimization and continuous improvement activities, including scrap reduction, cycle-time improvement, downtime reduction, and cost reduction.
• Supports mold qualifications, process trials, capability studies, and production start-ups.
• Works with Tooling and Operations to troubleshoot mold-related issues and improve mold performance.
• Supports the installation, qualification, and ramp-up of new injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Supports the introduction of new molds, products, and processes into production.
• Performs process trials and feasibility studies for new materials, molds, equipment, and manufacturing technologies.
• Uses data and structured problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Supports development and implementation of process documentation, work instructions, and process standards.
• Works closely with Quality to address process-related quality issues and improve process capability and stability.
• Participates in continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
• Maintains accurate technical documentation, process parameters, trial results, and engineering reports.
• Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of process improvements.
• Maintains a safe work environment and follows all applicable safety regulations and company policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience with injection molding processes in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of injection molding processes, machine operation, mold operation, and process parameters.
• Experience troubleshooting injection molding processes and identifying root causes of quality and production issues.
• Understanding of mold design, mold components, and basic tooling concepts.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and process documentation.
• Ability to use measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and other basic inspection equipment.
• Knowledge of plastics processing, including an understanding of material behavior and processing requirements.
• Experience with semi-crystalline and amorphous plastics is preferred.
• Experience with PVC, CPVC, polyolefins, or other thermoplastic materials is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, and other cross-functional teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.
• CAD experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX, or similar software is preferred.
• Experience with Moldflow or similar injection molding simulation software is a plus.
• Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Willingness to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to travel domestically as needed to support business requirements. (< 10%)

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Plastics/Polymer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant manufacturing experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 3–5 years of hands-on injection molding process engineering or related plastics manufacturing experience required.
• Experience working with injection molding machines, molds, auxiliary equipment, and thermoplastic materials.
• Experience with injection molding process development, optimization, troubleshooting, and qualification.
