Job description

Process Engineer

Full Time Huntington, IN, US

Salary Range: $80,000.00 To $110,000.00 Annually

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a high-performing, results-driven Process Engineer to drive operational excellence across our manufacturing facility. This critical role is dedicated to identifying and eliminating root causes of downtime, executing capital and process improvement projects from concept to commissioning, and significantly expanding our production capabilities. The ideal candidate blends rigorous analytical troubleshooting with hands-on technical execution to maximize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), throughput, and line capacity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Downtime Reduction & Equipment Reliability

Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Conduct structured problem-solving (5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA) on major unplanned downtime events; design and deploy permanent engineering countermeasures.

OEE Optimization: Continuously monitor and analyze line performance metrics, minor stops, and speed losses to identify continuous improvement opportunities.

PM Enhancement: Partner with Maintenance teams to convert unscheduled breakdown interventions into proactive, optimized Preventive/Predictive Maintenance routines.

Standardized Work: Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs), setup checklists, and changeover protocols to minimize line transition times (SMED).

End-to-End Project Management: Manage capital expenditure (CapEx) initiatives from initial business case and equipment specification through FAT/SAT, installation, and commissioning.

Cross-Functional Execution: Direct multidisciplinary project teams comprising vendors, external contractors, plant maintenance, safety, and production personnel.

Budget & Schedule Ownership: Maintain strict control over project timelines, milestone tracking, resource allocation, and budget compliance.

3. Capability Expansion & Line Optimization

Throughput & Capacity Scaling: Identify operational bottlenecks and re-engineer manufacturing processes to increase unit throughput and system bandwidth.

Automation & Technology Integration: Evaluate and implement automated tooling, robotics, vision inspection, and advanced controls to eliminate manual constraints.

Process Validation & Yield Improvement: Optimize critical operating parameters (temperatures, pressures, feed rates) to enhance yield, reduce scrap, and maintain strict quality standards.

Design for Manufacturability: Collaborate with R&D and Product Engineering to ensure new products seamlessly scale into existing manufacturing Operations.

SCOPE OF POSITION:

1. Downtime Reduction

Identify root causes, eliminate recurring mechanical/process failures, and optimize equipment reliability to drive target OEE gains.

2. Project Implementation

Lead end-to-end CapEx and continuous improvement projects on time, within budget, and meeting strict technical specifications.

3. Capability Improvement

Debottleneck production lines, integrate advanced automation, and scale throughput to support growing market demand.

EXPERIENCE:

2–5+ years of process/manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing or processing facility.

KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing engineering required.

Continuous Improvement: Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification strongly preferred; proven expertise with DMAIC, SMED, TPM, and Kaizen.

SKILLS:

Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD), PLC logic, data analytics software (Ignition).

  • Analytical Problem Solver: Ability to convert raw process data into actionable engineering projects.
  • Action-Oriented Leadership: Hands-on, shop-floor presence with a strong sense of urgency regarding downtime.
  • Project Discipline: Rigorous approach to budget, scope, timeline, and contractor management.
  • Cross-Functional Influencer: Communicates effectively from frontline operators to senior management.
