Job summary

Silfab Solar is seeking a Process Engineer based in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The role includes the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and hands-on troubleshooting for production issues. You will work closely with operations teams to improve efficiency and mentor newer employees.

Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics or equivalent, along with 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing. The position offers competitive wages and benefits, including medical insurance and paid time off.

  • Experience with Statistical Process Control is preferred.

Summary of Position

The Process Engineer is responsible for development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Standard Work Instructions (SWI), identifying and implementing improvement projects, conducting root cause analysis for production and maintenance issues, and collaborating with the operations team on program deliverables. Additionally, you will be involved in equipment evaluation, compliance with standards and legislation, and mentoring and training newer team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Standard Work Instructions (SWI).
  • Support the production team with data and analysis toward resolving other issues including those outside of engineering scope.
  • Hands‑on root cause analysis on production, engineering, equipment, and maintenance issues.
  • Identify and implement kaizen projects to improve productivity & efficiency.
  • Projects and process improvements (implementation, analysis, and process improvements).
  • Process Control Specification.
  • Process Control Flow Chart.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Team on Program Deliverables.
  • Lead the development of VSM (Value Stream Map) for Production lines across all sites.
  • PFMEAs Review / Simulation Review / Control Plans / Launch Deliverables.
  • Support Plant Equipment Install / Debug / Launch / Continuous Improvement.
  • Actively participate in meetings with the plants to support and meet the project deliverables.
  • Support all sites with troubleshooting activities, provide solutions and support for process concerns or improvement.
  • Automation troubleshooting, new equipment installation and modifications.
  • Process equipment evaluation to implementation.
  • Ensure equipment and systems comply with relevant standards and legislation.
  • Establishes equipment installation board and review weekly/daily with OEM and contractors.
  • Develop and lead trial runs at all sites.
  • Coaching / Mentoring / Training of newer / less experienced team members.
  • Support the quotation of machinery or equipment required for the processes.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work overtime and weekends when required.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.
Qualifications

Skills

  • Experience working with and troubleshooting robotics / controls systems, Control Logix PLCs and plant application controls and automation.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD software.
  • Good oral and written communication skills. Must exhibit professional and courteous communication / interaction under pressure.
  • Able to effectively work with external machine builders and system integrators for detail design, build and integration of later stages of machine system implementation.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high level of self-motivation.
  • Demonstrated technical project management experience.
  • Strong logical and methodical reasoning capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of safety systems design.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple issues in a fast‑paced work environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross‑functional team members.
  • Mechanical aptitude/interest.
  • Excellent inter‑personal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Team oriented.
  • Commitment to continuous learning.
  • High degree of attention to detail, precision and follow through.
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts.
  • Be able to conceive and manage small projects.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electromechanical, Controls Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of practical related experience within a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of Statistical Process Control, preferred.
