Job summary

Johnson Matthey is seeking a Process Engineer to design, specify, and implement materials processes across multiple product types. You will drive process improvements, reduce costs, and partner with Operations, QA, and Scheduling to ensure high-quality outputs.

This role also interfaces with Marketing and customers to align with end-user requirements. Key responsibilities include developing processing parameters, improving efficiencies, supporting operations, and mentoring hourly staff.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering or related field.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of metal forming processes in tube, wire and sheet products is a plus.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Problem Solving, and Continuous Improvement.
• Ability to communicate passionately and effectively about the process and impact the culture in a positive way.

• Develop material and processing parameters to achieve end-product properties per customer specs.
• Improve process efficiencies and metal working margins; establish improved process monitoring and control for consistency.
• Provide technical support for ongoing manufacturing operations within area of responsibility.
• Design, specify and implement materials and processes for assigned product areas.
• Develop and trial new processes to enable manufacturing of products as requested by sales team.
• Train hourly workforce to operate equipment and produce products in selected areas.
• Provide input into process hazard studies, capital projects, and incident investigations along with technical site support.

As a Process Engineer you will design, specify, and implement materials processes for a wide range of fabricated products. In addition, improve and develop manufacturing tooling and techniques required to make these products. Both efforts will be directed toward reducing manufacturing costs, and precious metal working margins, while improving internal and external product quality.

Technical responsibility for several product types across manufacturing departments as assigned by the Operations team. Products may range from standard items manufactured in continuous stream, to one-piece, one-time only orders. Incumbent will interface with Operations, Quality Assurance, and Scheduling daily. Work with Marketing and consult with customers and vendors as required by product responsibilities.

The Role:

As a Process Engineer, you will help drive our goals by:

• Provide technical support for ongoing manufacturing operations within area of responsibility.

Key Skills that will help you succeed in this role:

• BS degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering or related field.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
