Job summary

Spectrum AMT in Colorado Springs, CO seeks a Process Engineer to join the Engineering team. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, with 3–7 years in high-reliability environments.
  • Experience with cable and harness assembly preferred.
  • Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 and NASA-STD-8739.1 standards.
  • AS 9100 and ISO 9001:2015 environment experience.
  • Ability to interpret complex drawings, BOMs, and specs.
  • Experience with electrical testing (continuity, hi-pot).

Process Engineer - Manufacturing

Summary

Spectrum AMT is seeking a motivated and seasoned Process Engineer to join the Engineering team at Spectrum AMT in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position will be responsible for performing a variety of engineering tasks ranging from non‑recurring engineering for new product introduction, process yield and throughput enhancement, technical projects, solving engineering problems, reducing process obstacles, and ensuring all customer requirements are met or exceeded while reporting directly to the Director of Engineering. This person must have strong facilitation skills, be able to motivate teams effectively, and have excellent problem‑solving capabilities. This engineer needs to have a firm understanding of production processes and equipment and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • With little oversight, plan and organize technical projects from proposal through closeout.
  • Self‑starter who takes initiative to improve processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain repeatable CCA processes.
  • Act as technical point of contact for specific customers or programs.
  • Coordinate and communicate between functions for projects/programs as required.
  • Assist in cost, labor and schedule estimates for new business proposals.
  • Review technical drawings, schematics, specifications, component datasheets, etc.
  • Provide input to process flows and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing lean manufacturing or 6S methodologies.
Experience Desired
  • Demonstrated experience in cable and harness assembly processes within aerospace, defense, or high‑reliability industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 Class 3 requirements and acceptance criteria. Including workmanship, crimping, soldering, harness routing, shielding, labeling, backshell assembly and testing (continuity, hi‑pot, retention, and pull tests)
  • Knowledge of ANSI/IPC-J-STD-001 and NASA-STD-8739.1/ standards
  • Knowledge and experience operating in an AS 9100 and ISO 9001:2015 registered facility environment
  • Experience writing technical reports and procedures
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and specifications.
  • Experience with electrical testing (continuity, insulation resistance, hi‑pot).
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams to accomplish goals
  • Able to work effectively with hourly and management personnel
  • Capable of using MS Office tools such as MS Word, Excel, Vizio and PowerPoint
  • AutoCad and/or SolidWorks experience preferred
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, preferred with 3 to seven years’ experience in high-reliability Circuit Card Assembly and/or Cable/Harness environment
