Job summary

Tremco Construction Products Group is seeking a Process Engineer to join our plant team in Ohio. The role focuses on safety, product quality, process control, and Lean culture, with significant floor presence to support production and continuous improvement initiatives.

The engineer will develop and maintain systems to ensure products meet customer specs and achieve high reliability, while supporting maintenance planning, capital projects, and operational excellence across the facility.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in chemical, mechanical, electrical, or controls engineering.
• Six months+ PLC, mechanical, or electrical troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Packaging experience or automation equipment preferred.
• Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.
• Strong understanding of process variance and its effect on quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform continuous improvement safety walks.
• Lead facility safety issues with shift supervisors.
• Execute scheduled PHAs and JSAs.
• Monitor area and remediate potential safety issues.
• Use DAKOTA software for EH&S reporting and incidents.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Tremco Construction Products Group brings together Tremco CPG Inc.'s Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing and Roofing & Building Maintenance divisions; Tremco Barrier Solutions Inc.; Dryvit, Nudura and Willseal brands; Prebuck LLC; Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc.; Weatherproofing Technologies Canada and PureAir Control Services, Inc. GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Engineer's role is viewed as an extension of management. Responsibilities are broad and include safety, product quality, process control, productivity improvement, and development of a LEAN culture. The Engineer is expected to spend a significant amount of time on the floor.

The Process Engineer provides engineering support to the assigned program and/or area to ensure the product is processed in accordance with customer and division quality requirements while maintaining production flow. The Process Engineer is in charge of developing and maintaining systems to ensure that all products manufactured by the plant meet customer specifications and achieve superior reliability levels. The resident expert regarding process technology. Responsible for investigating and implementing new process technology at the plant. The Process Engineer is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing the plant. This position is responsible for influencing the development of preventative maintenance programs at the facility and will have a significant role in capital improvement plans while assisting in work area design, plant layout, visual control and metric implementation, material flow, process tracking, and communication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform continuous improvement safety walks.
• Assume a leadership position at the facility in partnership with the shift supervisors.Activities include resolution and communication regarding safety issues.
• Execute on scheduled PHA's and JSA's.
• Proactively monitor area and remediate potential safety issues.
• Use DAKOTA software as a tool for compliance and environmental, health, and safety.Use the tool to report incidents, near misses, and non-conformances.
• LEAN Culture.
• Develop and execute "standard work" activities.
• Assume responsibility for assigned activities on the Engineering Tier and other accountability boards.
• Conduct "GEMBA Walks" daily.Use walks as the primary means of education and communication of expectations.
• Improve productivity through elimination of non-value-added activities.Apply Engineering principles and methodologies to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
• Product Quality.
• Work to maximize equipment efficiency and quality for output.
• Member of the facility QIC.Ensure identification of root cause and subsequent prevention of future customer complaints.
• Assist in the training of operators with a focus on quality-critical product specifications and process parameters.
• Capable of equipment troubleshooting and process design.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

• Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Controls Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

• Six months or more of PLC, Mechanical, and/or Electrical troubleshooting experience and/or training preferred.
• Packaging experience or automation equipment preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Understanding process variance and the resultant effects on Quality.
• Knowledge of applied statistics.
• Ability to perform problem analysis utilizing problem-solving methodology.
• Troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs.
