Job summary

Tremco Construction Products Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive safety, quality, and productivity on the factory floor. The role focuses on LEAN initiatives, standard work, and reducing waste while leading multi‑million dollar capital projects with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include safety leadership, GEMBA walks, and training operators on process parameters, equipment, and quality specs, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET Accredited university
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety initiatives in partnership with Plant manager and shift supervisors.
  • Execute on scheduled PHA's and JSA's and remediate safety issues.
  • Develop and execute standard work as part of LEAN culture.
  • Promote and drive the Small K program and GEMBA Walks.
  • Improve productivity by eliminating non-value-added activities and applying engineering principles.
  • Maintain and improve plant layout and flow.
  • Train operators on quality-critical specs and processes.
  • Manage multi-million dollar projects on time and on budget; coordinate large equipment installations and process implementations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and processes.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Tremco Construction Products Group brings together Tremco CPG Inc.'s Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing and Roofing & Building Maintenance divisions; Tremco Barrier Solutions Inc.; Dryvit, Nudura and Willseal brands; Prebuck LLC; Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc.; Weatherproofing Technologies Canada and PureAir Control Services, Inc. Altogether, Tremco CPG companies operate 21 manufacturing facilities, 6 distribution sites, and 3 R&D/technology sites, and employ more than 2,700 people across North America.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Manufacturing Engineer responsibilities are broad and include safety, product quality, process control, productivity improvement, and development of a LEAN culture. The Manufacturing Engineer is expected to spend a significant amount of time on the floor and lead large capital project teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Safety
    • Assume a leadership position at the facility in partnership with the Plant manager and shift supervisors. Activities include resolution and communication regarding safety issues.
    • Execute on scheduled PHA's and JSA's.
    • Proactively monitor area and remediate potential safety issues.
    • Use DAKOTA software as a tool for compliance and environmental, health and safety. Use the tool to report incidents, near misses, and non-conformances.
  • LEAN Culture
    • Active participant in MS-168 Management Operating System.
    • Develop and execute upon "standard work" activities.
    • Continuous Improvement champion promoting and driving the "Small K" program.
    • Conduct "GEMBA Walks" daily. Use walks as the primary means of education and communication of expectations.
    • Improve productivity through elimination of non-value-added activities. Apply Engineering principles and methodologies to Improve productivity and eliminate waste.
    • Maintain and continually improve the plant layout and flow.
  • Computer Software
    • Must be proficient in using 3D CAD and Adobe Photoshop software's

  • Product Quality
    • Work to maximize equipment efficiency and quality for output.
    • Assist in the training of operators with a focus on quality critical product specifications and process parameters.
    • Must be proficient at equipment. Tooling, and process troubleshooting and design.
  • Project Management
    • Must be capable of successfully managing multi-million dollar projects on time and on budget.
    • Manages and coordinates large equipment installations and process implementations.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET Accredited university
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Understanding process variance and the resultant effects on Quality
  • Knowledge of applied statistics
  • Ability to perform problem analysis utilizing problem solving methodology.
  • Knowledge of SAP systems
  • Microsoft Suite of Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs.
