Aerotek is seeking a Process Documentation Specialist for a contract role in Aurora, OH. The role blends hands-on plant-floor observation with office-based documentation to produce SOPs, work instructions and related process documents.
The ideal candidate has proven experience in SOP creation, strong writing skills, and familiarity with manufacturing environments, including working with operators and supervisors on-site.
The Process Documentation Specialist creates clear, accurate, and user-friendly standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions by closely observing manufacturing operations and translating those activities into professional documentation. This contract role, expected to last 36+ months, balances hands‑on time on the plant floor with focused writing and editing work in an office environment. The position follows a Monday‑Friday day shift schedule, with hours that may fluctuate based on quality control and production needs in a facility that operates four 10‑hour shifts starting at 5:00 a.m.
Employees join this organization to be part of an established global manufacturer with a long history of growth and stability. The facility is modern and well-maintained, and many employees have built long‑term careers here, with tenures often exceeding 15 years. Team members work in a true manufacturing environment alongside experienced machinists, machine operators, assemblers, and production employees, gaining direct exposure to specialized manufacturing processes. The culture emphasizes a growth mindset, innovation, continuous improvement, and a coaching approach where employees are encouraged to share ideas and speak up. This role offers a meaningful blend of hands‑on plant‑floor engagement and office‑based documentation work, allowing you to see the direct impact of your efforts as employees use the SOPs and work instructions you create for training and daily reference.
The role splits time between an office setting and the manufacturing floor within a graphite manufacturing facility. The environment is an active industrial setting where graphite dust, noise, and general production debris may be present. The position requires extensive walking on the floor, observing operators and machinists, taking notes and photos, and gathering information before returning to a computer to create and refine SOPs and work instructions. The plant operates four 10‑hour shifts starting at 5:00 a.m., and this position follows a Monday‑Friday day shift schedule with hours that may fluctuate based on quality control and production demands. Individuals who are comfortable in a hands‑on, industrial manufacturing environment and who can move easily between floor work and office work will be the best fit.
