Job summary

Safran Defense & Space, Inc. seeks a Process Development Engineer for Dewar Manufacturing to develop, validate, and transition new manufacturing processes into production for IDCAs.

You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and suppliers to ensure safe, repeatable, and efficient production while meeting quality, cost, and schedule goals. The role requires a engineering degree, 3+ years in process development, and strong experience with DFM/DFA, GD&T, and SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics is required.
• 3+ years of experience developing manufacturing processes.
• Experience taking products from prototype through production.
• Strong understanding of DFM and DFA."
• Experience developing production tooling and fixtures.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new dewar products from prototype through full-rate production.
• Design and validate production tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids to improve quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
• Lead manufacturing readiness and NPI activities, including prototype builds, process validation, and production transition.
• Establish and qualify manufacturing processes through process development, testing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, assembly procedures, and tooling documentation.
• Provide hands-on support to production by troubleshooting manufacturing issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
• Partner with engineering, quality, supply chain, manufacturing, and external vendors to improve manufacturability and drive DFM initiatives.
• Continuously improve manufacturing processes to increase yield, reduce cycle time, and enhance quality and efficiency.
• Provide technical direction to Manufacturing Engineering Technicians and production personnel on process development activities.
