  • Ability to work hands-on and manage priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

  • Lead process development and scale-up, defining process windows and material-process relationships.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing principles to align product, material, process, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Partner with product development engineers on prototyping, process development, and commercialization.
  • Serve as a key technical interface with manufacturing teams, external partners, and suppliers.
  • Plan and execute experiments, process trials, scale-up, validation, and sample delivery.
  • Troubleshoot material and process issues with manufacturing, quality, and supplier partners.
  • Align technical requirements and manufacturing readiness across cross-functional teams.
  • Analyze and document results, specifications, validation outcomes, and recommendations.
  • Identify equipment and process capability needs with engineering partners.
  • Assess manufacturing capacity, supplier capability, process risk, and commercialization readiness.

About the Role

We are looking for a Process Development Engineer to join our team in Elkton, Maryland. In this role, you will lead the development, scale-up, and validation of manufacturing processes, with a focus on material expansion, compression, coating, and lamination technologies. You will collaborate across product development, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and external partners to translate product requirements into robust, scalable process solutions. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges and directly support the commercialization of new products.

This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

Pay and Benefits
  • $110,000 - $140,000 per year

Required Qualifications

Desired Qualifications
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a closely related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in R&D process development and scale-up involving compression, expansion, coating, and lamination.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement in the country from which the Associate is employed. Eligibility is dependent on the responsibilities of the role and business needs, and the Associate must agree to comply with Gore's work arrangement policies.
