Job summary

Gore is seeking a Manufacturing Production Leader to join the Leadership Team in Elkton, Maryland. You will directly lead production operators and area leads to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.

The role emphasizes coaching, lean manufacturing, and a strong culture of accountability. Third shift is Sunday–Thursday, 10:00 PM–6:30 AM, with base location at our Elkton facility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or 3 years of hands-on production leadership experience.
  • Experience using daily management systems and data-driven decision making.
  • Proven ability to apply Gore Business System lean tools and 6S.

Responsibilities

  • Lead production area activities including safety, quality, delivery and cost goals.
  • Develop and coach operators and Area Leads for high performance.
  • Monitor KPIs related to productivity, yield and quality.
  • Optimize staffing and equipment to meet goals and sustain operations.

Job description

We are looking for a Manufacturing Production Leader to join our Leadership Team in Elkton, Maryland who will be responsible for directly leading teams that manufacture commercialized products, including manufacturing operators and Area Leads.

The Third shift Manufacturing Production Leader is responsible for leading and developing high-performing production teams to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. This role requires a strong focus on coaching, team engagement, operational discipline, and the application of lean manufacturing principles. As a key leader on Third shift, this position sets the tone for a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Third shift hours are Sunday through Thursday, 10:00PM- 6:30AM. The Third shift Production Leader is expected to spend the majority of their working time during the Third shift hours. This role will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits:

  • $94,000 - $104,000 per year

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all production area activities including daily management and metrics, safety, quality, and delivery objectives achieved through high presence in the production area (30% minimum).
  • Responsible for the performance and development (P&D) of individuals and team to include time approval, performance management, contribution and compensation (C&C).
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, yield, and quality.
  • Optimize resources as they relate to staffing and equipment, in addition to achieving productivity and cost goals to ensure efficiency and business continuity.
  • Model and promote the Gore Business System (GBS) approach to apply lean manufacturing tools such as daily management, 6S, standard work, structured problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Ensure all environmental health and safety requirements are met and documented through incident management and investigation.
  • Work cross-functionally with all manufacturing support functions, including engineering, planning, QA, EH&S, Shop Services, HR, etc. to deliver daily and weekly manufacturing goals in a safe and inclusive environment
  • Communicate shift status, key issues, and improvement opportunities to leadership, other shifts, and other teams.
  • Maintain compliance with training expectations as required for this position to include manufacturing review within the quality system.
  • Establishes clear expectations of equitable and inclusive behaviors from Associates and acts immediately to appropriately address negatively impactful or unfair behavior.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 3 years hands-on responsibility for supporting teams, managing processes, and driving business outcomes in day-to-day operations in lieu of degree.
  • Experience utilizing daily management systems to ensure work is aligned with business objectives.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data to effectively elevate information locally, and cross-functional to drive root cause and support decision making.
  • Experience navigating a quality system and enforcing manufacturing procedures in a regulated environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and conflict resolution skills with demonstrated success in creating and maintaining an inclusive work environment with a clear understanding of equitable practices.
  • Demonstrated success in applying lean tools in day-to-day operations and continuous improvement activities, including applied knowledge of Gore Business System (GBS) initiatives.
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate goals, expectations, and feedback at all levels (operators, leaders, manufacturing support).
  • Ability to be pro-active, identify, and drive changes using influence and followership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and respond quickly to changing conditions.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment with flexibility to modify working hours to meet shift specific commitments
Desired Qualifications
  • Successful completion of the Gore Production Leader Development Certification
  • Experience in a medical device or regulated manufacturing environment
  • Six Sigma Certification and/or comparable lean certifications

This role requires pre-hire medical clearance by Gore which may include testing to assess visual acuity and/or the ability to wear specific safety equipment as required during the performance of the role.
