Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Development Chemist for a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Welkom, Free State. You will develop, optimize, and scale synthetic routes for APIs and intermediates, applying organic and process chemistry to move discoveries to production.

The role requires GMP awareness, method development, and technology transfer, with collaboration across R&D and manufacturing to ensure safe, cost-efficient scale-up and robust quality.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Organic Chemistry or related field.
• 5+ years in pharmaceutical/process development.
• Experience with GMP, analytical methods, and scale-up.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute robust, scalable synthetic routes for APIs and intermediates.
• Optimize reaction conditions for yield, purity, safety, and cost.
• Perform PHAs and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop and validate process analytical methods for monitoring.
• Transfer technology to manufacturing with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain detailed records per GMP guidelines.
