Job summary

Electronic Technologies International (ETI) and American Cable and Harness (ACH) are seeking a Process Design Engineer in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to support new product introduction, process development, and manufacturing optimization across PCB and cable/wire harness assembly.

You will work closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Sales to improve efficiency, troubleshoot issues, and ensure processes meet customer and quality requirements.

Job description

Electronic Technologies International (ETI) and American Cable and Harness (ACH) are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Process Design Engineer to support new product introduction, process development, manufacturing optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across our printed circuit board assembly and cable/wire harness assembly operations. This role will work closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Sales to improve manufacturing efficiency, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure processes are designed to meet customer and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong technical aptitude, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Process Development and Design
  • Develop and maintain operator instructions, assembly documentation, and manufacturing procedures for new products and engineering revisions
  • Implement and manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
  • Design and optimize manufacturing processes to improve quality, throughput, and efficiency
  • Develop systems to optimize machine setups and changeovers
  • Support the development of labor standards and manufacturing processes for RFQs and new business opportunities
  • Recommend process flow improvements to reduce waste and improve productivity
New Product Introduction
  • Support the launch of new products and manufacturing processes
  • Provide technical support to Sales and customers as required
  • Assist with complex project-based control box builds and special assemblies
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure manufacturability and smooth product transitions
Troubleshooting and Technical Support
  • Interface with associates and cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing-related issues
  • Troubleshot test failures, production defects, and process-related problems.
  • Perform failure analysis and support warranty investigations
  • Read, interpret, and utilize electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Support functional test development, training, and upkeep of test procedures
  • Define and implement continuous improvement projects focused on manufacturing efficiency, quality, and productivity
  • Collaborate with Operations and Quality to resolve process variances and drive root cause corrective actions
  • Support cross-training and skills development across production teams
  • Participate in Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to improve operational performance
Quality and Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with ISO standards and customer-specific requirements
  • Support and adhere to the Quality Management System
  • Participate in internal audits, corrective actions, and process improvement activities
  • Assist in developing and maintaining standard work and best practices
Other Responsibilities
  • Support daily production activities within circuit board manufacturing and control panel assembly operations (ETI) and cable/wire harness assembly operations (ACH)
  • Assist other departments with process-related tasks and special projects assigned
Qualifications
Education
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, engineering technician, or related roles
  • Experience with printed circuit board assembly, cable assembly, or electronic manufacturing preferred
  • Experience supporting new product introduction and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD preferred)
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
