Job summary

Heartwell Renewables is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to design, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize process controls and automate systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

This role supports continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing process stability, control strategies, and system performance while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in process controls or automation engineering in refining, petrochemical, chemical, power, or renewable fuels.
Strong understanding of process control theory and instrumentation.
Hands-on experience with DCS and PLC systems.
Ability to read P&IDs and control narratives.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and optimize control strategies for continuous and batch processes.
Develop control logic and alarms in DCS, PLC, SIS, and SCADA systems.
Tune control loops to improve stability, throughput, and product quality.
Support startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of process units.
Maintain plant control systems including cybersecurity best practices.
Coordinate with vendors for upgrades and lifecycle management.
Develop alarm management strategies per industry standards.
Support safety initiatives including HAZOP, LOPA, and MOC.
Ensure modifications meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
