Job summary

Ingenium Talent is partnering with a Pasadena, TX-area client to recruit a Process Controls Engineer who will support plant operations through process automation, control system optimization, instrumentation reliability, and capital project execution.

You will maintain DCS/PLC/HMI systems, develop control strategies, lead projects from concept through startup, and analyze data to improve efficiency, quality, and reliability while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in process controls, automation, instrumentation, or electrical engineering within a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
• Experience supporting PSM-regulated operations.
• Hands-on experience with DCS, PLC, instrumentation, and capital projects.
• Preferred experience with: Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs, FactoryTalk.
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and project management skills.
• Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, NEMA, IEEE, and ISA standards.
• EIT, PE, or PMP certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain DCS, PLC, HMI, historian, and plant network systems.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize control strategies, alarms, graphics, and automation systems.
• Lead and support process control, instrumentation, and electrical improvement projects from concept through startup.
• Analyze plant data to improve process efficiency, product quality, and equipment reliability.
• Troubleshoot automation, instrumentation, and electrical system issues and lead root cause investigations.
• Support commissioning, start-ups, turnarounds, and plant reliability initiatives.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, contractors, and vendors to execute projects and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and PSM requirements while supporting industry best practices.
