Job summary

Tate & Lyle, located in Okmulgee, OK, invites applications for a Process Control Engineer. You will join the Project Engineering department to install, maintain, and improve site process controls assets and systems, supporting optimization in capacity, cost, quality, safety and environmental performance.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical or Chemical), 0–3 years in DCS/PLC, and strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical or Chemical) or equivalent.
• 0–3 years of working knowledge of DCS and PLC based process control systems.
• Must be a self-starter with on-call availability for plant support.
• Demonstrated integrity, thoroughness, creativity, flexibility and teamwork.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Experience with DeltaV, Allen-Bradley and PI systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Confers with operators, supervisors and engineers to elicit requirements and suggest improvements.
• Meet with engineering team to define and implement process control and instrumentation projects.
• Provide technical and operational support for day-to-day process control systems.
• Coordinate with vendors and area personnel for purchasing and deployment of solutions.
• Coordinate with outside consultants to develop and deploy custom solutions.
• Troubleshoot control systems hardware and software failures for DeltaV and Microsoft systems.
• Participate in projects to replace servers, develop networks, and improve control system sustainability.
• Comply with Tate and Lyle standards (Process Control Practices, documentation, MOC, design reviews).
• Respond to off-hour callouts via phone or in person.
• Assist E&I technicians with automation and control system issues.
• Support operations and capital projects in operation, modification and maintenance of control systems.
