Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical/Electrical/Mechanical preferred).

• Experience in industrial manufacturing or process plant environments.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, PFDs, electrical schematics, and instrumentation drawings.

A global specialty chemical manufacturer is seeking a Process Controls Engineer for its North Florida manufacturing facility. This position will be responsible for the programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of plant process control and automation systems.

The Engineer will provide technical expertise in Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and supporting operational technology (OT) infrastructure. Responsibilities include control system optimization, system upgrades, and ensuring the reliability and performance of plant automation equipment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, modify, and maintain DCS and PLC programming to support production requirements, equipment reliability, and process improvements.


• Provide technical support for plant automation systems, including Siemens PCS 7 and other industrial control platforms.


• Diagnose and resolve control system issues involving hardware, software, communication networks, and field instrumentation.


• Evaluate existing control system infrastructure and develop solutions to improve system performance, reliability, and long-term supportability.


• Manage automation and control system projects, including system design, equipment selection, programming, installation, testing, and commissioning.


• Support the configuration and maintenance of OT infrastructure, including industrial networks, servers, remote I/O, and HMI applications.


• Identify aging or obsolete automation components and develop plans for system replacements, upgrades, and technology improvements.


• Maintain accurate technical documentation, including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, control loop drawings, and network architecture diagrams.


• Implement control system software and firmware updates while maintaining proper revision control and change documentation.


• Evaluate and improve process control strategies, instrumentation applications, and automation functionality to support plant operating objectives.


• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC) activities involving process control systems.


• Provide technical training and troubleshooting assistance to operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel.


• Coordinate with equipment suppliers, system integrators, and service providers to support automation projects and ongoing system maintenance.


• Ensure control system modifications and engineering activities comply with applicable plant safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.


• Minimum of 3 years of experience programming, maintaining, or supporting industrial DCS and/or PLC systems.


• Experience in an industrial manufacturing or process plant environment.


• Working knowledge of P&IDs, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), electrical schematics, and instrumentation loop drawings.


• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot process control loops, automation equipment, and control system communication issues.


• Experience managing engineering or automation projects from initial planning through implementation.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex control system issues.


• Ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience programming and supporting Siemens PCS 7 distributed control systems.


• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and networks, including Profinet, Profibus, and Modbus.


• Experience with legacy DCS platforms and control system migration projects.


• Knowledge of process safety requirements, including PHA and MOC procedures.


• Experience supporting automation systems in chemical manufacturing or other continuous-process industries.
