Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking a Process Control Technician for the Southeast Region at the Harleyville facility. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing process control systems and instrumentation to ensure safe, reliable plant operations.

You will support DCS/PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, instrument calibration, and field maintenance while adhering to safety standards and regulatory requirements. Competitive hourly pay is offered with union benefits.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Instrumentation & Controls, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Score of 75 or better on the NCCER Industrial Electrician test.
  • 2-5+ years of experience in process control, instrumentation, or industrial maintenance.
  • Experience in manufacturing, chemical, or industrial environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot distributed control systems (DCS), PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Monitor process control loops and tune controllers to optimize performance and stability.
  • Support system upgrades, configuration changes, and maintenance of control strategies.
  • Assist in implementing process improvements and automation solutions.
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain field instruments such as flow, pressure, temperature, and level transmitters.
  • Diagnose and repair instrumentation and electrical issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Respond to plant issues impacting process control systems and instrumentation.
  • Work with operations and engineering teams to resolve process upsets and equipment failures.
  • Analyze trends and data to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure all work complies with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibrations, and system modifications.
  • Update P&IDs, loop sheets, and control documentation as needed.
  • Generate reports on equipment performance and maintenance metrics.
  • Provide technical support during plant startups, shutdowns, and outages.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across sites to standardize best practices.
