Job summary

CMC is seeking a skilled electrical maintenance technician in Sayreville, NJ to diagnose and repair power and substation issues while supporting control systems and equipment across the facility.

You will install, monitor, and maintain electrical systems, learn electromechanical starters, and assist with parts procurement. The role requires lifting, outdoor work in all weather, and PLC/ladder logic familiarity.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years electrical maintenance experience preferred.
  • Must understand predictive maintenance, furnace grounding, harmonic mitigation.
  • Experience or training with PLCs or ladder logic interfaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 90 lbs, carry 50 lbs, and climb ladders.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and remedy problems related to incoming power and substations.
  • Install, monitor, troubleshoot, and ensure reliability of electrical and control systems.
  • Maintain electromechanical starters and motors with interface boards, VFDs, HMIs.
  • Procure supplies and spare parts for timely maintenance.
  • Lead annual facility testing and inspection requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Diagnose and remedy complex problems related to incoming power irregularities and substation problems
  • Install, monitor, inspect, troubleshoot, and ensure reliability of all electrical, electronic control systems and components, process equipment, and AC/DC utilities
  • Learn and maintain the variety of electromechanical starters and motors using sophisticated electronic interface boards, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and controllers
  • Procure supplies and spare parts to ensure effective and timely maintenance of equipment
  • Lead facility's annual testing and inspection requirements
What You'll Need
  • Minimum 2 years electrical maintenance experience preferred
  • Must understand and demonstrate abilities in Predictive Maintenance Technology, Furnace Grounding Systems and Testing, Induced Harmonics and related mitigation technology
  • Experience or formal education and lab training on PLCs, or the ability to navigate block logic, ladder logic, or other digital logic interfaces
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 90 lbs, carry 50 lbs, and climb ladders and steps
  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions, including heat and cold weather
Your Education
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Associate's degree in instrumentation, electronics or mechatronics program from a Technical Trade School preferred
