Job summary

Commercial Metals in Durant, OK seeks a maintenance technician to plan, coordinate and execute preventive and corrective maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems, collaborating with maintenance staff, contractors and vendors to keep equipment running smoothly.

Ideal candidates have a mechanical or electrical background, can read electrical drawings, and are proficient with MS Office. A high school diploma or GED is preferred; training in electrical/instrument control is a plus.

• Excel/Word/PowerPoint proficiency and good writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance with staff, contractors and vendors.
• Order parts for planned jobs and equipment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available for the task.
• Develop Job Kits (kitting).
• Coordinate outages and lead field meetings with engineers, vendors, stakeholders.
• Assist in developing and optimizing preventive maintenance schedules.
• Document maintenance activities and ensure environmental/operational compliance.
• Procure supplies and spare parts for maintenance.
• Oversee corrective maintenance and ensure timely execution.

What You'll Do

• Plans, schedules, and coordinates corrective and preventive maintenance activities with maintenance staff, contractors and external vendors
• Orders parts for planned jobs and equipment
• Ensures tools and equipment are available for the assigned task
• Develop Job Kits (kitting)
• Coordinate down day and outage activities to include leading meeting and execution in the field
• Conduct meetings as needed with engineers, vendors, stakeholders and contractors
• Assist in developing and optimizing preventative maintenance (PM) schedules and routines.
• Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities and compliance with environmental and operational standards
• Procure supplies and spare parts to ensure effective and timely maintenance of equipment

What You'll Need

• Mechanical and/or electrical background required
• Able to estimate labor hours, materials and can visualize the job to be performed
• Excellent writing and computer skills including email and Microsoft software products (e.g., Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
• Must have effective listening and verbal skills to identify important information and to engage with internal and external customers
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
• Heavy emphasis on electrical maintenance

Your Education

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Training in electrical and electronic instrument control systems and component maintenance preferred.
