Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs in Middletown, OH offers a Process Control Engineering Co-Op during the Spring or Summer semester. You will work with engineering and operations leaders on automation projects, building skills across software/hardware and measurement systems.

Enrollment in a BS program (CmpE, Software, EEng or related) and sophomore standing by 2027 are required, with US work authorization. Excellent total compensation, benefits, and opportunities for future full-time employment are highlighted.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree.
• Completion of sophomore year by summer 2027.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Software development in a variety of programming languages and on a variety of hardware platforms.
• Maintenance of computer hardware and software.
• Maintenance and problem solving of all aspects of the automation system.
• Modifications to the automation system to adapt to new products and processes.
• Address issues that may impact production or system reliability.
• Process modeling for mill processes of a chemical, metallurgical and mechanical nature.
• Administration of a variety of Operating Systems and relational databases on workstations and servers.
• Work with complex measurement systems, such as vision systems, thermal imaging, RFID and barcode tagging, X-ray and gauges.
• Work with networking technologies, high-speed data transmission, and specialty interfaces.
• Close coordination with a production department, vendors, R&D and other staff departments.
