A leading recruiting firm is seeking a Process Control Engineer for a local industrial manufacturer. This role involves design and management of process control systems, providing technical support, and mentoring junior engineers. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Engineering along with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.

Role Purpose: The Process Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, health, and operation of the plant’s control systems and plant automation equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Technical Manager
Capex project controls development, support, and project management, including field construction and commissioning of project control equipment.
Direct and maintain plant process control documentation.
Function as the lead trainer for process technicians for process controls.
Maintain and update the HMI screens for the process.
Optimize the interface for area technicians by making improvements as needed.
Work with Operations and other resources to troubleshoot process control related problems to find root cause and implement corrective actions.
Mentor new process engineers on providing appropriate design specifications for process control equipment, developing process control narratives, and estimating control costs for projects.
Support startups of new control systems during utility shutdowns or production slowdowns.
Manage process controls projects with minimal direct supervision.
Support projects and process improvements as the process control resource.
Work with project schedules and planning of outside integrators/programmers/vendors to achieve project timelines.
Provide technical support to maintenance of the plant controls systems (IO configuration, hardware, layouts, etc)
Cooperatively work with Process Engineering, Operations, Safety, and Quality teams to develop and implement controls solutions to improve safety, reduce costs, improve quality, reduce environmental impacts, and increase capacity.
Skill/experience requirements:
1-5 years related process controls experience.
BS Engineering or Engineering Technology degree with emphasis in Controls. Will also consider highly experienced non-degreed candidates with relevant experience in a manufacturing setting.
PLC/DCS Control System application & installation – experience with Allen Bradley Controllogix/Compactlogix systems is strongly preferred.
Motor Control/System design, installation, and troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of controls hardware and software, including automated control valves, instrumentation, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, process servers, etc.
Process control electrical circuit design, installation, and troubleshooting.
Ability to work effectively with our network ISIT group to minimize impact of their actions on process equipment and to support resolution of network issues that require their support.
Working knowledge of OSI Pi and Pi AF would be very helpful.
Ability both to write control narratives and to review/edit narratives prepared by process engineers and technologists.
Ability to interface with external process controls engineering firms and to manage contract controls engineers on site.
Project management experience either as the primary PM or as the Controls Lead on larger projects.
Ability to work with urgency in a 24/7/365 production environment. The position is a day shift position, but off-shift on-call support will be required occasionally to support production outages or project startup activity.
Effective teacher and mentor of chemical process engineers and technologists with varying levels of experience and knowledge of process control technology.

Self-motivated, self-directed, and able to take ownership of the process control systems with minimal supervision from site management.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
