Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation in Towson, MD is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide and coordinate independent, patient-centered care within a clinical specialty as a key member of the multidisciplinary care team.

You will practice evidence-based care, support quality improvement, mentor staff, and participate in meetings and on-call shifts. Maryland RN license and BLS/ACLS are required; ICU experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Active Maryland RN license or eligibility under MD Compact.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• ACLS certification and annual UMMS competencies.
• 2–3 years nursing experience; ICU experience preferred.
• Strong critical thinking and quick patient condition assessment.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care to procedural patients.
• Practice independently with strong clinical knowledge, assessment skills, and evidence-based care.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and advocate for patients and families.
• Serve as a clinical resource, preceptor, coach, and mentor to nurses and students.
• Maintain competencies; participate in ongoing professional development.
• Support quality improvement, patient safety, and research initiatives.
• Identify and report safety risks and adverse events per policies.
• Participate in quality, regulatory, and unit performance activities.
• Lead as charge nurse or in other leadership roles when assigned.
• Attend staff meetings, team-building, and governance activities.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and team members.
