Job summary

Montgomery County Pennsylvania is seeking a Probation Supervisor to lead a team of officers in supervising community offenders in accordance with departmental policy. The role emphasizes training, staff development, and adherence to Evidence Based Practices, ensuring fidelity and quality assurance.

The supervisor will manage daily operations, evaluate performance, collaborate with the Judiciary, and engage with community partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Three years of experience as a Probation Officer or one year as an Assistant Supervisor or Probation Officer II.
• Proficient problem solving abilities, decision making, and judgement skills.
• Management, coaching, and leadership skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Commitment to promoting public safety.
• Regular travel throughout Montgomery County and occasionally to other destinations within Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

• Coach and develop officers to ensure community supervision aligns with departmental policy.
• Responsible for training, professional development, and discipline of staff.
• Foster an environment which promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Implement departmental procedures and Evidence Based Practices.
• Conduct performance evaluations and develop improvement plans; provide written summaries.
• Assess and assign defendants for appropriate programming and monitor supervision contacts.
• Conduct caseload and work product audits, gather statistics and analyze reports to ensure compliance with investigations and court requirements.
• Interact through written and verbal correspondence with the Judiciary; coordinate with stakeholders.
• Travel throughout Montgomery County and occasionally to other destinations within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; work in absence of Administrator.
