Job summary

McLennan County is seeking a Community Supervision Officer to supervise offenders from pre-sentence status through monitoring compliance with probation conditions. You will review court-set supervision, conduct interviews, and develop tailored case plans, using evidence-based methods to reduce recidivism and support pro-social behavior.

You will perform field and office duties, maintain detailed case files, collect urine samples for monitoring, and provide court testimony when required.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree conferred by an institution of higher education; degree accreditation by a recognized body.
• Unless currently certified or exempt, must complete community supervision officer certification coursework and pass written examination within the first twelve months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise assigned offenders to ensure compliance with court-ordered conditions.
• Review and clarify community supervision conditions as set by the court.
• Conduct interviews and assessments to determine supervision levels and maintain documentation.
• Develop individualized supervision and case plans.
• Utilize evidence-based supervision strategies and refer to programs to reduce recidivism and promote pro-social behavior.
• Take action for non-compliance, including filing violation reports and recommending sanctions.
• Provide Court testimony when required and monitor progress through office reports and field visits.
• Maintain accurate case files with data entry and document scanning in CSCD’s system.
• Collect urine samples for substance monitoring per policy.
• Attend team meetings and provide coverage as needed.
