COMMUNITY SUPERVISION OFFICER I, CSCD – Tarrant County

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Salary: $100,000.00–$140,000.00

Summary

This position will supervise probationers/defendants under court‑ordered community supervision in a manner that will reduce continued criminal conduct and promote successful rehabilitation. It will assist probationers/defendants in maintaining a crime‑free lifestyle by enforcing compliance with court orders, responding quickly to violations, employing a progressive sanctions model, and applying evidence‑based practices to supervision strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Meets regularly with probationers/defendants to ensure compliance with court‑ordered conditions.
• Conducts state‑mandated risk assessments and other assessments as appropriate to determine probationer/defendant needs.
• Conducts home and field visits to monitor probationer/defendant behavior in the community.
• Maintains case management files and documents all interactions with probationers/defendants.
• Prepares violations reports and modifications, attends necessary court proceedings, and testifies as needed.
• Maintains records in compliance with State standards, grant conditions, and department policies and procedures.
• Communicates with referral agencies and victims as needed.
• Completes pre‑sentence investigation reports.
• Runs computerized criminal history reports, orders arrest reports, and conducts driver licence checks.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Valid driver license and liability insurance.
• Case management experience preferred.
• Must pass State certification within one year of employment.
• Meet and maintain CJAD training hours requirement.
• Knowledge and understanding of CJAD Standards.
• Knowledge and understanding of Department Policies and Procedures.
• Skilled at interviewing and assessing for risk and criminogenic need.
• Skilled in developing supervision plans.
• Proficient with CSCD information systems to include, but not limited to, CSCD electronic case management system(s), Tarrant County Mainframe, and Microsoft Office Software.
• Effective communication.
• Dedication to quality development within the CSCD.
• Attention to detail, investigative skills, willingness to accept and promote change and flexibility.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and bend, lift and transport case files to court, and work with unpredictable and potentially violent probationers in an office setting as well as in the probationer’s home environment. Exposure to communicable and contagious diseases may occur. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. The incumbent must have the ability to work well with others and perform essential functions without posing a direct threat to health and safety.
