The Office of Juvenile Justice, Monroe Regional Office, is seeking a Probation and Parole Officer – Juvenile in Monroe, LA. The role supervises youth under court-ordered supervision and supports rehabilitation through supervision, engagement, and evidence-based interventions.

Responsibilities include risk assessments, home/school/community visits, collaboration with families and schools, documentation, and participation in court proceedings. SER-based compensation applies across levels.

Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; OR

Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply); OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR

A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.

This position may require the incumbent to handle and carry firearms.

Willingness and ability to complete the Corrections Juvenile Services-Agent Curriculum.

No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

Job Duties:

• Monitor and supervise youth under court-ordered community supervision to promote compliance and positive behavior.
• Conduct risk and needs assessments to determine appropriate supervision levels, interventions, and service plans.
• Perform home, school, field, and community visits to assess progress and monitor youth development.
• Collaborate with families, schools, courts, and service providers to support rehabilitation and successful outcomes.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized supervision and treatment plans.
• Connect youth and families with community resources, treatment services, and support programs.
• Maintain detailed case files, documentation, reports, and records in accordance with agency requirements.
• Participate in court proceedings, prepare case summaries, and provide testimony when required.
• Respond to crisis situations, address compliance concerns, and recommend appropriate interventions.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to staff and assist with program improvement initiatives at higher levels.

Work Location: This vacancy is located at the Monroe Regional Office in Monroe, Louisiana

Appointment Type: Full-time, probational

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Probation and Parole Officer 1,2, or 3 (Juvenile), depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.

Compensation: These positions have a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level.

• The Probation and Parole Officer 1 Juvenile has a SER of $1,590.40 Biweekly.
• The Probation and Parole Officer 2 Juvenile has a SER of $1,701.60 Biweekly.
• The Probation and Parole Officer 3 Juvenile has a SER of $2,084.80 Biweekly.

The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c).
