Job summary

Maricopa County is seeking a Probation Administration Assistant to provide administrative support to the Juvenile Probation Department. You will join a team dedicated to connecting youth with community resources and accountability for behavior.

The role emphasizes efficiency, confidentiality, and professionalism while supporting the Probation Department, JIPS, Diversion and Treatment Division within CSB.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of general clerical experience OR combined education/experience substitutable year-for-year.
  • Ability to learn department systems and maintain records with accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to calls and inquiries with policy knowledge.
  • Analyze data and create reports using Excel and Word.
  • Complete data entry with attention to detail.
  • Create probation and diversion files and maintain file room.
  • Deliver internal mail and process warrants.

Posting Date 09/30/26 Application Deadline 10/07/26 Pay Range Min - 1st Quartile - Mid - Max $20.25 - $23.31 - $26.38 - $32.50 The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $21.77 to $23.31. This position is Non-Exempt under the FLSA.

Position Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Two (2) years of general clerical experience OR Combined Education and Experience Qualifications: Post-secondary education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis

  • The operation of office equipment such as fax machine, printer/copier, and computer terminals

  • Ability to: Maintain a thorough understanding of the Department’s role in supporting the Probation Department’s Mission, Vision, and Values

Essential Job Tasks
  • Responds to telephone calls and other inquiries that require a broad knowledge of operating policies and procedures and/or functions of a large complex organization.
  • Analyze data and create reports, using Excel and Word software programs
  • Completes data entry which requires attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Creates probation and diversion files
  • Maintains the file room
  • Delivers internal mail
  • Processes juvenile warrants
  • Tracks, schedules, and disseminates psychological evaluations
  • Schedules appointments
  • Compiles Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADOJC) packets and processes service authorization forms
  • Provides administrative support for the Probation Department, Juvenile Intensive Probation Supervision (JIPS), Diversion and Treatment Division in the Community Supervision Bureau (CSB)
Working Conditions

Office setting. Some assignments may require travel to other locations throughout Maricopa County. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may be required to move or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.
