Job summary

The Oregon Judicial Department seeks a Probate Commissioner (Probate Examiner Developmental Underfill Opportunity) for Coos and Curry counties. You will handle probate and protective matters, sign orders, review filings, and assist the public at counters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and at least three years of professional legal secretarial, court support, or paralegal experience for Probate Commissioner; OR seven years equivalent experience.
• Probate Examiner minimum: Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of paralegal or court support experience; OR six years equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Handle probate and protective proceeding matters for the district.
• Prepare and sign orders for appointing visitors; accept filings and track annual accounts, guardian reports, and related documents.
• Review filings for accuracy and compliance; assist customers at the counter via in-person, phone, or email.
• Back up the program coordinator in Aid and Assist matters for Coos and Curry counties; assist with civil commitment and mental illness notices.
• Coordinate court-appointed counsel and hearings; operate For-The-Record equipment and monitor logs.
