Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a Probabilistic Risk Analyst to join the Safety and Mission Assurance team in the United States. You will ensure crew safety and contribute to mission success across complex spaceflight programs.

The role requires a strong background in reliability engineering, PRA, MTBF, FMEA, and data management, with leadership experience guiding a team of engineers.

Experience with NASA programs and space systems is valued; occasional travel and flexible hours may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY

Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Probabilistic Risk Analyst to join our team of engineers in Safety and Mission Assurance to ensure the safety of our crew and the success of our space missions.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and implement an overall reliability engineering strategy, including specific practices, processes, and a reliability growth plan for components and systems.
• Lead a team of Reliability Engineers in successfully implementing requirements and program deliverable milestones
• Provide effective project planning and leadership specific to the Reliability team and for other aspects of the S&MA program where applicable
• Work in a collaborative engineering team environment and progress a positive safety culture
• Lead, develop and present flight/ground Reliability Analysis results to achieve program goals and objectives
• Responsible for end-to-end system reliability analysis (MTBF, PRA, FMEA, CIL, Reliability Test Criteria) and products
• Lead and conduct Probabilistic Risk Analysis (PRA) in support of design trades and risk-informed decisions throughout the program's life cycle
• Lead the development and implementation of accurate Reliability data management systems/records
• Develop and represent Reliability Analysis reports/presentations to management and other S&MA teams as necessary
• Conduct performance management functions to advance the reliability teams skill set to achieve the organization objectives
• Develop knowledge and expertise to serve as a department Reliability SME, including learning new tasks to gain deeper knowledge and insight
• Collaborate with engineering and subsystem teams to implement integrated reliability analyses.
• Prepare technical documentation and presentations for peers, management, and external customers and partners
• Communicating analysis progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and management
• Perform additional job duties as assigned

• Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related discipline)
• 10+ years of direct experience in spacecraft reliability-focused activities, including statistical process control, modeling/prediction with a minimum of 3-5 years performing PRA’s (Probabilistic Risk Assessments).
• Experience using Relex (Windchill PTC), Saphire or related reliability toolsets is desired.
• Related experience in the reliability predictions for new designs of spacecraft, space vehicles, and their related components and systems is desired.
• Experience in analyzing and processing flight hardware failure data to calculate or refine product reliability metrics and recommend improvement measures.
• A broad background in space systems engineering, including an understanding of space vehicle design, space system architecture development, ground systems support, payloads, and space missions and operations development.
• Detailed knowledge of spaceflight subsystems and functions, preferably human spaceflight related.
• Experience with NASA human spaceflight programs desired.
• Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
