Job summary

Jacksonville Beach Golf Club is seeking a staff member to operate the golf pro-shop and promote the game of golf. You will register golfers, manage green fees and cart charges, and support tournaments under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma with golf apprenticeship experience and PGA membership pursuit; familiarity with POS systems, inventory, and customer service is expected. This is a full-time, on-site position with benefits through the city’s Parks & Recreation department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with golf apprenticeship program and some golf shop experience.
• Certificate of completion of School I/II or PGA School Program desirable.

This position performs responsible professional work in the operation of the golf pro-shop and promoting the game of golf; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Senior Assistant Golf Professional. Some supervision is exercised over golf shop and service personnel.

Experience Required

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by completion of a professional golf apprenticeship program and some golf shop experience.

Special Qualifications:

Certificate of completion of School I or School II or P.G.A. School Program is desirable. Must obtain PGA membership through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) program within a prescribed timeframe.

Essential Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Registers golfers and assists with managing tournaments and promotional events.
• Collects, receipts, and accounts for green fees, cart charges, and other sales.
• Inspects and oversees operation of the golf carts, ensures golf carts are properly charged, and reports cart damage.
• Oversees and participates in the operation of the pro-shop and clubhouse.
• Monitors the deleted and voided transaction report daily.
• Monitors the sales in the point of sale system with the credit card terminals to check for accuracy and to identify any issues needing resolution.
• Assists in promoting the game of golf.
• Assists patrons with information about the facilities, equipment, rules, and etiquette.
• Establishes and assigns starting times.
• Maintains records and prepares reports.
• Oversees the general maintenance of the pro-shop and clubhouse.
• Maintains security of golf course property and buildings.
• Assists with or conducts performance evaluations.
• Assist with the administration of applicable staff via recordkeeping, work schedules, and timekeeping according to City policy.
• Assist in the inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders including: ordering procedures, receiving procedures, inputting into point of sale, pricing procedures, display, and sales.
• Performs related tasks as required.
