Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist I who can cover weekend Day and/or Weekend Night shifts. Under general supervision, performs routine and specialized sonographic procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Ultrasound program; registry eligible.
• Associate’s degree in health sciences or related field (Preferred).
• Prior work experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams for patients of all ages, ensuring accurate imaging, proper equipment selection, patient identification, and adherence to scanning protocols.
• Provide exceptional patient care by educating and preparing patients for procedures, obtaining medical histories, documenting exams, and coordinating care with providers, patients, and families.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant clinical environment by following infection prevention standards, performing probe disinfection, assisting with sterile procedures, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Monitor and maintain ultrasound equipment and exam room supplies, perform quality control, report equipment issues, and support efficient departmental operations.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, support staff and student education, uphold professional and ethical standards, and ensure timely image documentation and transfer to PACS for interpretation.
