Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited program in sonography.
• SPI certification required upon hire.
• RDMS certification may be required within 6 months depending on location and role.

Responsibilities

• Validate patient order and review prior imaging.
• Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment per safety protocols.
• Identify patients and explain exams in understandable terms.
• Perform ultrasound exams per departmental protocols with independent judgment.
• Complete structured reports and upload images to PACS; review with radiologist.
• Maintain competency for High Level Disinfection procedures.
• Provide age-specific patient care from neonates to geriatrics.
• Protect patient privacy per HIPAA; follow hospital policies.
• Collaborate with health-care team and maintain credentials.
• Report equipment failures and adhere to safety standards.
