Job summary

University Hospitals in Ohio is seeking a Sonographer PRN to support ultrasound exams, patient preparation, and collaborative diagnostic work.

The role emphasizes accurate imaging, adherence to infection control, and patient-centered care with attention to privacy and safety standards. Candidates should have an accredited sonography program and HIPAA awareness, with SPI and potential RDMS qualification within six months.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited program in sonography is required.
• Previous sonography experience is preferred but not required.
• SPI (Sonography Principles & Instrumentation) exam required upon hire; RDMS certification may be required within 6 months.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Validate patient order and review relevant prior imaging.
• Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment per infection control and safety protocols.
• Identify patient correctly and explain the exam clearly.
• Perform ultrasound exams following departmental protocols with accurate imaging.
• Complete structured reporting, note exam limitations, upload images to PACS and review with radiologist.
• Maintain High Level Disinfection procedures and competency.
• Provide age-appropriate patient care from neonates to geriatrics.
• Protect patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA and hospital policies.
• Collaborate with health care team and maintain professional relationships.
• Keep credentials up-to-date and report equipment failures.
• Follow safety standards and regulatory requirements.
