Job summary

Lee’s Summit Surgicenter, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Certified First Assist to operate as first/second assistant under the surgeon. You will aid exposure, hemostasis, and other technical tasks to ensure safe outcomes and will restock and reset rooms between cases.

The role requires a CAAHEP-accredited program, CSFA credential, BLS and CSA certifications, with about one year of OR experience in an ambulatory setting. BCLS certification is also expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited program in surgical assisting and attain the CSFA credential
• BLS certification
• One year experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA)
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment (online certification not acceptable)

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon as first/second assistant during operative procedures
• Aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions to ensure safe outcomes
• Restock and change over rooms between cases
• Assist with patient positioning, skinPreparation, and surgical draping per protocol
• Communicate with the surgical team and surgeon to ascertain needs
