Job summary
Physicians Pavilion Surgery Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Certified First Assist to support the surgeon as first/second assistant during operative procedures. The role includes restocking, room turnover, patient positioning, and ensuring hemostasis, while maintaining communication with the surgical team and anesthesia to optimize safety and outcomes.
The ideal candidate is CSFA certified, with BLS and CSA credentials, and has at least 1 year OR experience, including ambulatory
Qualifications
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited program in surgical assisting and CSFA credential
Responsibilities
- Assist the operating surgeon as first/second assistant during procedures, aiding exposure and hemostasis
- Restock and change over rooms between cases
- Communicate with the surgeon prior to cases to determine needs
- Share information with the surgical team in a timely manner
- Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, and draping per protocol
- Anticipate surgeon needs to expedite procedures and minimize patient exposure
- Coordinate with anesthesia on patient temperature per protocol
- Assist with retraction and exposure of the operative site
- Perform suction, irrigation, and sponging to facilitate hemostasis
- Assist with skin or external suturing and stapling under surgeon direction
