Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a PRN Speech Language Therapist to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

You will provide a full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative services for patients with speech-language and swallowing disorders, including evaluations, planning, and implementation of therapy modalities.

This PRN role supports a fast-paced inpatient setting in the Baltimore-Washington metro area with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Ability to gain SLP licensure in the District of Columbia before beginning in this role.
• BLS (Basic Life Support).
• 1-2 years related clinical practice experience in an acute care or rehabilitation facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct speech, language, and swallowing evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of functioning, setting appropriate goals and making appropriate discharge recommendations in accordance withstandards of practice.Providesdirect SLP treatments according to standards of practice, including patient and family education, progression of treatment plan and implementation ofappropriate therapeuticinterventions.
• Utilizes appropriate documentation forms and abides by PM&R’s documentation standards. Coordinates and prioritizes own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.
• Demonstrates proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
• Collaborates with physicians, patients, family and other members of health care team relative to patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning.
• Maintains CEUs per state requirements for continued professional competency. Adheres to all Department of Health and Joint Commission regulations with regards to the physical environment and patient care.
