Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program with minimally 20 quarter hours of science (A.S. degree required/ B.S. degree preferred).
• NBRC credential as a RRT or CRT with plan to obtain RRT within 6 months of graduation or CRT that obtains RRT within 6 months of hire.
• Active Oklahoma Respiratory Care Professional License as outlined by the Oklahoma Medical Board.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role; ACLS within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, run and log routine ECG and rhythm strips.
• Prepare and administer oxygen therapy using nasal cannulas, masks, venturi masks, non-rebreathers, simple masks and oxygen hoods; heated high flow nasal cannulas.
• If nursery trained, prepare and administer aerosol modalities using bland aerosols, Ezpap, and small volume nebulizers.
• Perform and teach Incentive Spirometry.
• Interpret and report vital signs and pulse oximetry as indicated.
• Perform postural drainage and percussion.
• Perform ventilator monitoring checks and change ventilator circuits.
• Ossculates and identifies various breath sounds.
• Perform Allen's test and arterial blood gases.
• Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidentiality of patient, family, and staff information.
