Qualifications

Job description

Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, including medication administration, ventilator management, airway procedures, and patient assessment. They deliver care in complex situations, primarily in critical care settings, with a focus on protocol-driven interventions and independent decision-making. The role involves patient and family education, staff development, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, collaborate with healthcare teams, and verify orders for respiratory therapies.
• Manage ventilators, conduct weaning, interpret waveforms, and perform airway management, including intubation and tracheostomy care.
• Administer aerosolized medications, oxygen, and other medical gases, and perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
• Educate patients, mentor new staff, and assist in invasive and non-invasive procedures, including pulmonary diagnostics.
• Ensure patient safety through accurate documentation, promoting evidence-based practices, and participating in performance improvement efforts.

Qualifications & Skills

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
• Valid NBRC-RRT, RCP, BLS, and ACLS certifications required.
• 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care preferred.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills, along with computer proficiency.
