Job summary

The Arc Prince George’s County is seeking a PRN Residential Counselor to support individuals with developmental disabilities in community-based homes in Prince George’s County. Responsibilities include medication support, transportation, and connecting individuals with community activities.

The role emphasizes personal care, budgeting assistance, and accurate documentation, with an expected commitment of at least two shifts per month. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of related caregiving experience.
• Valid driver’s license with 2+ years of experience, clean driving record and reliable vehicle.
• Able to complete The Arc training requirements.
• Strong computer skills for documentation and scheduling.
• Excellent communication and caregiving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Healthcare & Medication Support: Implement nursing plans, administer medications, accompany to medical appointments, document concerns.
• Individual Plan & Behavioral Support: Review plans, document outcomes and progress, apply behavior support strategies.
• Incident Reporting & Safety: Respond to incidents, file reports, maintain safety practices.
• Community Integration: Plan recreational activities, provide transportation, encourage healthy lifestyle and social engagement.
• Personal Care: Assist with hygiene and daily living activities while promoting independence.
• Financial & Documentation: Assist budgeting and banking per plans, complete documentation clearly and timely.
• Household & Teamwork: Perform household tasks, train relief staff, record hours and mileage, maintain confidentiality.
