Endeavors in Houston, TX seeks Shelter Support Staff to monitor residents, enforce program rules, and ensure safety and sanitation in the shelter environment. The role requires maintaining professional boundaries, assisting with intake, and coordinating with volunteers to support daily shelter operations.
Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED, with 2+ years serving vulnerable populations; NIMS certifications and bilingual English/Spanish skills are required. Candidates must be U.S.

To monitor the activities of residents of the shelter/center and to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations. Shelter Support Staff is also responsible for ensuring the safety of residents and the security and sanitation of the program. The Shelter Support Staff will help to oversee and to take reasonable action necessary to carry out responsibilities assigned as long as such action does not deviate from established organizational policies and is consistent with program guidelines and sound professional judgment.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field Preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 2+ years' experience working with migrant populations, child welfare, or vulnerable populations, strongly preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS:Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) Core Curriculum Courses. IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System, IS-0200.c Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, ISC 200 IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System IS-800.D: National Response Framework, An Introduction
ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the
employer's sole discretion.
OTHER: Proficiency in Spanish/English (written and spoken language skills). Excellent interpersonal skills, including good communication skills, listening skills, and attitude. Ability to pass required medical exam and have the physical ability to fulfill essential functions. Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality;
Eligible to receive, pass, and maintain security investigation background check - initiated by the National Background Investigations Bureau. Must be a U.S. citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident.
