A Day in the Life of a Registered Nurse (RN)

As a PRN RN, you play a vital role in assessing and supporting patients in their homes. Your responsibilities include:

  • Conducting patient visits to assess nursing needs
  • Completing initial evaluation visits and developing individualized plans of care
  • Performing ongoing assessments and revising plans as needed under physician direction
  • Providing skilled nursing treatments and educating patients and caregivers on disease processes, self‑care, and prevention
  • Initiating preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures as ordered
  • Preparing clinical and progress notes and coordinating services with other care team members
  • Communicating directly with physicians and staff to ensure continuity of care
  • Re‑evaluating patient needs and assisting with discharge planning
  • Supervising LPNs, vocational nurses, and home health aides when appropriate
  • Practicing infection control and universal precautions
  • Reporting suspected abuse according to state and federal guidelines
  • Assisting with office tasks and new‑nurse orientation when needed

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing
  • Active RN license in the state of Oklahoma
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience
  • CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days)
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
  • Ability to travel long distances and adapt to changing schedules
  • Experience in home health, critical care, or emergency care is preferred

We're looking for someone who communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure, manages time well, and works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
