Job summary

Freedom Behavioral is seeking a Registered Nurse to join a growing team in Ferriday, LA. You will lead day-to-day patient care activities, maintain nursing standards, and support quality and safety initiatives within a dynamic program.

You will provide direct patient care, serve as Charge Nurse when assigned, and coordinate with medical staff to ensure timely assessments, documentation, and adherence to infection control guidelines. This role offers a full-time daytime and night shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• RN license through the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• At least 1 year of mental health experience; dual diagnosis experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within the RN scope.

Position Details

• Shift Availability: PRN - DAY SHIFT (7 AM - 7 PM) - NIGHT SHIFT (7 PM - 7 am)
• Status: Full Time

Position Summary

As a Registered Nurse, you will assume leadership responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of patient care activities, while maintaining professional nursing standards in accordance with TJC, CMS, and state regulations. Your primary duties will include:

• Providing direct patient care within the scope of your RN nursing license.
• Acting as Charge Nurse as assigned, providing oversight to ancillary staff.
• Ensuring quality and compliance in nursing care delivery.
• Communicating effectively with medical staff and the Director of Nursing regarding patient care issues.
• Performing patient assessments and ensuring timely, accurate documentation in the medical record.
• Adhering to infection control guidelines and employee health protocols.
• Participating in performance improvement initiatives and completing assigned chart monitoring.
• Facilitating admissions in coordination with the Service Development Department.
• Collaborating with the treatment team on patient goals, interventions, and assessments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• License: RN License through the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Experience: Minimum one year of experience in mental health, with experience in caring for dual diagnosis patients preferred.
