Job summary

Chelsea Retirement Community is seeking an RN to provide hands-on nursing care for residents in Chelsea, MI. The role includes administering medications, performing treatments, monitoring vitals, and ensuring comfort and safety.

You will support care plan updates, document thoroughly, and mentor nursing assistants. Per Diem schedule with weekend/holiday coverage expectations and shift premiums applies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN).
• Active State of Michigan RN License.
• CPR certification required or willing to obtain upon hire.
• Minimum of one year experience with frail and elderly.
• Tasks involving more than 50 lbs. require assistance or assistive equipment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care – administer medications, perform treatments, monitor vital signs and wound care.
• Conduct health assessments – evaluate residents and report changes to the clinical team.
• Monitor and adjust care plans – observe residents for adverse reactions and update plans accordingly.

Schedule: Per Diem

• No scheduling mandation
• Work an average of three (3) shifts per calendar month. Regular weekend coverage is expected. Must be available to work a minimum of two (2) holidays per year.

Pay Range: Pay range: $40.01 - $47.44/hr. (this rate is inclusive of the $3.40/hr. Michigan Skilled Nursing Facility Direct Care Worker Pass-Through approved rate; current approval through September 30, 2026)

Shift Premiums: Beginning 2:30 pm – 10:30 pm, $1:90 | Beginning 10:31 pm -7 am, $1.35 | Weekend Fri, 10:31 pm – Sun 11:00 pm, $1.00.

What You’ll Do:

As a Registered Nurse at Kresge Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, you’ll provide direct, hands-on nursing care focused on quality, treatment, and resident comfort. You’ll administer medications, perform treatments, monitor vital signs, and assess residents to identify changes in condition, ensuring timely communication with the care team.

In this role, you’ll observe and respond to residents’ needs, support care plan updates, and help maintain a safe, compliant environment through proper documentation and infection control practices. You’ll also play a key role in supporting and guiding nursing assistants while helping ensure smooth daily operations, including admissions and discharges.

Your clinical expertise and attention to detail will help deliver a consistent, high-quality experience for each resident while maintaining the standards of care expected in a skilled nursing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain Medical Records – Keep accurate, up-to-date records in compliance with policies and regulations.
• Ensure Safety and Infection Control – Follow all protocols to maintain a safe environment for residents and staff.
• Prevent Spread of Illness – Adhere to proper infection control procedures at all times.
• Engage in Ongoing Education – Maintain certifications and stay current with best practices.
