Job summary

Emerald Healthcare in Woodmere, NY seeks a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our rehab team on a PRN basis. The PTA will work closely with physical therapists and nursing staff to deliver high-quality rehabilitation services to residents.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree in PTA, NY licensure, and strong interpersonal skills. Experience in a skilled nursing or rehab setting is preferred but not required; scheduling is flexible and as-needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
• Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in New York.
• Experience in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physical therapists in implementing and modifying treatment plans based on patients’ needs and progress.
• Provide hands-on therapy, including exercises, manual therapy, and modalities as directed.
• Collect and document patient data, including progress notes and treatment outcomes.
• Report any changes in patients' conditions to the physical therapist.
• Educate patients and families about exercises, equipment use, and home programs.
• Set up and maintain therapeutic equipment and assist patients with devices.
• Collaborate with physical therapists, nurses, and other staff to ensure cohesive patient care.
• Maintain a clean and safe therapy environment and adhere to policies.
