Job summary

DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan in Detroit, MI is seeking a Physical Therapist PRN to provide patient care using a wide range of therapies and modalities in a dynamic rehabilitation setting.

You will evaluate and treat patients, develop home programs, mentor staff, and participate in interdisciplinary conferences while maintaining documentation and compliance with service line protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or certification from an accredited physical therapy program.
• Three years of clinical experience in order to acquire skills for independent patient treatment.
• Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan.
• Minimum of 60 points on the professional growth and development criteria.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients using standard physical therapy procedures such as heat, cold, electricity, traction, ultrasound and exercise.
• Evaluate patients' motor and neurological capabilities and document findings.
• Treat patients using standard physical therapy procedures; assist patients in rehabilitative exercise programs; instructs patients in the use of rehabilitative equipment such as braces, splints, and ambulation aides.
• Administer and interpret tests to evaluate motor and neurological capabilities.
• Document treatments, initial evaluation, progress notes and discharge summaries.
• Co-sign notes written by PT assistants, aides and/or students; develop home care programs for patients and instruct families.
• Provide staff mentoring and develop/implement educational in-services for staff.
• Attend interdisciplinary meetings and report patient progress; consult with service line team members.
• Oversee, instruct and evaluate PT assistants, aides, students and/or volunteers as assigned.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; recommend purchases; stay current on treatment techniques.
• Serve as a member of a designated service line and foster an interdisciplinary care approach.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy

Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan
