Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland is seeking a PRN Phlebotomist to perform venous and capillary collections, glucose testing, and specimen processing on a weekend schedule (4am–12:30pm).

The role requires hospital phlebotomy training, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work with diverse patients while maintaining accuracy in LIS entries and specimen labeling.

You will support department goals, train new staff, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and completion of Hospital approved phlebotomy course.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience, preferred.
• DL NUMBER - Valid driver's license in Maryland and dependable vehicle, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the achievement of department goals and adheres to policies and safety standards.
• Collects blood from patients according to policies and procedures.
• Ensures proper documentation: ICD-10, ABN, signatures, and LIS entries.
• Labels specimens accurately and maintains a sanitary work area.
• Participates in training and committee activities as required.
